The I-100 impedance analyser was constructed with intention to overcome shortcomings typical in available commercial instruments at the time as to deepen information obtained by measurement and to simplify measuring procedure.
The I-100 is intended for spectroscopic measurements of impedance or admittance in the range of frequencies from 0.01 Hz to 3 MHz for impedance modules from 1 to 109 Ω. It enables continual changing of frequency (scanning) and recording of measured diagrams on computer. For this purpose original software is developed.
Among advantages of this instrument is direct reading of real and imaginary parts of impedance instead of long lasting balancing of resistance and capacitance at each frequency and direct plotting of diagrams in a complex plane. Particularly important is already stated broad range of measuring frequencies that at the time of building instrument could not be found in commercial instruments. With this, a suitable range for measurements of solid electrolytes, applicable in solar cells, was achieved.
Besides recording of vector diagram for frequency dependence of impedance or admittance this instrument allows recording of frequency dependent conductivity or dielectric constant of material.
