2ndAnnual Meeting and 1stWorkshop
Barcelona - Cervera, 17-18 December, 2000
Minutes
As proposed in the conclusions of
the Kick-off meeting held in Tunis, September 17-20, 1998, the 2nd
Meeting and the 1st Workshop should have been organized in Cairo in
September 1999, together with the UNESCO Training Course. However, UNESCO
postponed the Training Course to spring 2000. Therefore, and mainly of
financial reasons (excessive prices of flight tickets to Cairo), both meetings
were moved to Barcelona.
The offer of the local authorities
of Cervera, precisely the most illustrious major Sr. Salvador Bordes Balcellas,
to give to ours disposal the facilities of the Ancient University of Cervera,
enabled us to organize the second day of the meeting in this town. This was
also the occasion to get acquainted the participants with the cultural heritage
of Cervera and to perform the first steps for the presentation of an
Investigation Project within the V Framework Program of DG-XII.
There was established that all three
Prospective studies (PS1 in Tunisia, PS2 in Egypt and PS3 in Morocco) that were
launched during the Kick-off meeting are in course. The working groups of each
PS made several field trips, which were used for prospection of chosen
monuments, measurements and sampling. The first half of the amount of money
dedicated to each PS was sent to involved investigation groups according to
their internal agreements. The financial reports for the first year should be
sent to Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona as soon as possible in order to
enable the UAB administration to send the common financial report to Brussels.
It is the condition for obtaining the next part of money from the European
Commission.
The participants were informed that
the UNESCO Training Course will be organized inCairo most probably by the end
of April 2000. The final agreement on the place and time for organization of
the 3rd Annual Meeting and the 2rdWorkshop was not
brought, although it is very realistic to be organized during the second half
of January or in February 2001.
In order to equilibrate the reports
of the participants the coordinator of the Concerted Action proposes that the
actions during first day of the next meeting should be organized by discussion
within particular groups forming each Prospective Study. However, the plenary
session will be organized the second day and it will be dedicated to reports on
each Prospective Study.
